What you need
- A Google account.
- A Blogger blog (free at blogger.com).
- About 5 minutes.
Step 1: Get your Blog ID
Every Blogger blog has a unique ID. We need this so the tool knows which blog to post to.
- Go to blogger.com and sign in.
- Pick your blog on the left side menu.
- Click Settings in the side menu.
- Scroll all the way down to the bottom.
- Look for the Blog ID in the page info. It is a long number like 1234567890123456789.
- Copy this number. Save it for later.
Tip: You can also find the Blog ID in your URL. Go to Edit any post. The URL will look like: blogger.com/blog/post/edit/1234567890/.... That long number is your Blog ID.
Step 2: Make a Blogger API key
We need an API key to read and write to your blog.
- Go to Google Cloud Console.
- Make a new project, or pick the one you already have. Name it something like "AlphaPost".
- In the search bar, type Blogger API and press enter.
- Click Blogger API v3.
- Click Enable. Wait a few seconds.
- On the left, click Credentials.
- Click Create Credentials at the top, then API Key.
- A key will appear. Copy it. Save it for later.
Step 3: Restrict the key (very important)
To keep your key safe, set it to only work with Blogger.
- In the same Credentials page, click on the API key you just made.
- Scroll down to API restrictions.
- Pick Restrict key.
- From the list, pick Blogger API v3.
- Click Save.
Now this key can only be used for Blogger. If it ever leaks, no one can use it for anything else in your account.
Step 4: Add a $1 spending limit (recommended)
Blogger API is free, but to be extra safe:
- Go to Google Cloud Billing.
- Pick your billing account.
- Click Budgets & alerts, then Create budget.
- Set the limit to $1.
- Save.
This costs nothing and gives you peace of mind.
Step 5: Connect your blog in AlphaPost
- Go to your AlphaPost dashboard.
- Click Connect Blogger in the side menu.
- Click the Connect Blog button.
- Fill in:
- Blog Name: Any name to help you remember (like "My Travel Blog").
- Blog URL: The full URL of your blog (like https://mytravelblog.blogspot.com).
- Blog ID: The number you copied in Step 1.
- API Key: The key you copied in Step 2.
- Click Connect Blog.
AlphaPost will check the key and fetch your blog labels. You will see your blog on the page with a "Not Authorized" badge.
Step 6: Authorize Blogger publishing
The API key lets us read your blog. But to post on your blog, we need your permission. This is a one-time setup.
- Click the Authorize Blogger button next to your blog.
- You will go to a Google page. It says "AlphaPost wants to manage your Blogger".
- You may see a warning "Google hasn't verified this app". Click Advanced then Go to AlphaPost. (This warning will go away once we get Google verification.)
- Click Continue, then Allow.
- You go back to AlphaPost. You should see the badge turn green: "Authorized".
Done! AlphaPost can now post on your blog.
What does "Authorized" mean?
It means you gave AlphaPost permission to make posts on your blog. AlphaPost gets a token from Google. This token lasts forever, unless you revoke it.
You can revoke it any time:
- Click Revoke Access on the blog card in AlphaPost, or
- Go to Google Account Permissions and remove AlphaPost.
Done!
Your blog is now connected and authorized. Next step is to make an order, set up your prompt, and let the AI start posting.
