How this works
AlphaPost connects to your Pinterest account using a one-click authorization. We never see your Pinterest password. Pinterest gives us a secure token that lets us pin articles to your boards on your behalf. You can disconnect anytime.
Step 1: Have a Pinterest Business Account
Pinterest requires a Business account to use the API. Personal accounts will not work. If you have a personal account, you can convert it to business for free in Pinterest settings, or create a new business account.
- Go to pinterest.com/business/create
- Sign up or convert your existing account
- Fill in basic business details (your blog name is fine)
- Skip ads or onboarding promo screens
Step 2: Create at Least One Board
Pinterest pins go on boards. Make sure you have at least one board ready before connecting. You can name it after your blog or topic, like "Tech Articles" or "Personal Finance".
- Open pinterest.com
- Go to your profile
- Click the + button
- Choose Create board
- Name it and save
Step 3: Click Connect in AlphaPost
- Open the Pinterest page in your AlphaPost dashboard
- Click the Connect Pinterest button
- You will be redirected to Pinterest
- Log in if needed, then click Allow on the permissions screen
- Pinterest will send you back to AlphaPost automatically
- Your Pinterest account is now connected
That is it
Now when you enable Pinterest auto pinning on any of your existing orders in Start Posting, AlphaPost will create a pin on your chosen board every time a new article is published. The connection lasts a long time and refreshes automatically.
Privacy and Security
- AlphaPost never sees your Pinterest password
- The access token Pinterest gives us is encrypted with AES-256 before being saved
- You can disconnect any time from the Pinterest page in your dashboard
- Disconnecting immediately revokes our access to your Pinterest account
